MSEUF Black and White Chess Tournament 2015
As technology changes and advances, the use of gadgets and social media also increases. That’s why it’s good to know that in spite of recent trends, there are still people who are fond of playing traditional games like chess.
Playing chess – probably one of the all-time favorite board games – provides many advantages. According to research, playing it can raise our IQ levels, improve our memorization skills, and help us develop critical thinking.
Last October 3-4, 2015, the members of the Honor Society of the Lambda Kappa Phi of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) opened their annual chess tournament to their fellow Lucenahins at Pacific Mall, Lucena City.
This week, let’s take a moment to know more about their club through one of the organizers, Mark Steven Enriquez.

The Honor Society of the Lambda Kappa Phi was founded on March 14, 1957 with the aim of gathering together the brightest and most dynamic scholars and student leaders in one organization.

Currently, aside from our numerous alumni, the 58th Grand Council of HSLKP consists of almost 20 active members coming from the different departments of MSEUF.

What piece of advice can you tell those aspiring chess players?
Passion and aiming for excellence are two of the most important factors a person should have. Personally, I can tell aspiring chess players out there to continue exploring whatever it is that they want to achieve. It doesn’t matter whether you win or lose as long as you like what you are doing. Just like playing chess, you cannot change the pieces you have; only the way you play the game.
Good luck, future chess masters!
