Ten Things You Will Surely Miss In Your College Life

As I was travelling on my way home, I saw a group of college students holding each other’s hands while crossing the street. It felt awkward to smile inside a jeepney knowing your co-passengers would think that you’re somewhat in love or simply weird, but I was not able to stop myself from smiling ear to ear because the memories it brought back hit me right through the heart – memories that fresh graduates like me would definitely miss like the following:

  1. Riding a Jeepney – Every morning, seeing college students running late for school after working on a pile of homework the previous night is a normal scenario. If you’d ever scoured the passing jeepneys for the right one to get on, you’d surely miss seeing the “Red-V,” “Calmar,” “Site,” “Gulang-Gulang,” and “Grand Terminal” sign boards hanging from their windshields. Plus, who would not miss paying only seven pesos to “Manong” or “Kuya” drivers as part of your student discount?
  2. Food Buddies – They are the people who would never let you eat alone during lunch, break time, and would accompany you everywhere around the campus to enjoy different kinds of food. These persons are probably the best people to hang out with every single day.
  3. Making fun of your terrifying professors – Who would forget your bully of a friend and classmates who love to impersonate your terrifying professors when they’re not around?
  4. Boardmates – During your college days, it’s fun to wake up knowing your boardmates are around, turning up the radio to its maximum volume and starting your day with good vibes.
  5. Endless Selfies – Hashtag Monday Morning! It’s an everyday routine to see your classmates take photos of themselves before, during, and after class. If you like to do the same thing, then you’re also probably a “Selfie King” or “Queen.”
  6. T.G.I.F (PARTY ALL NIGHT) – It’s the perfect day for slumber parties, bar hopping, and food trip which were usually some of the stress-relievers of college students after a week of stress at school.
  7. Being Weird Together – We all have that one friend who called us by our surnames instead of our first names, and most of the time, it was kinda creepy to hear them say it out load in front of many people. College friends are also those people who never fail to make us laugh even in unexpected places.
  8. Stalking your crush – Using code names, hiding photos, and of course watching the intramural games of your boy-next-door crush was probably one of the favorite hobbies of your girl friends during your college years.
  9.  Semester Break – In the professional world, there are no summer or semestral breaks (only rare holiday breaks), but when you’re a student, it’s always fun to hang out and relax during these days without having job responsibilities to worry about.
  10. The Friends You Made – College friends are some of the greatest blessings that you could have. You may be apart from each other with different career paths, goals, and dreams, but they’re worth remembering and keeping in touch with.

If you are smiling right now, then you surely can relate to this. Amazing how all these lessons and fun experiences have made us into what we are today, isn’t it?
