Hi my name is Xyrene Ciara Enopia, 20 years old taking up Bachelor of Fine Arts in Manuel S. Enverga University and I’m a certified bookworm. 🙂

How long have had you an interest in collecting books?

Actually, I am an avid collector of different stuffs from pull tabs to paintbrushes I have it all, but my all-time-favorite are books. Books made my childhood days fun and adventurous.

During my elementary days, my mother and sister used to read me Atlas and Dictionary. Well, it’s kinda unusual compared to other parents who would tell fairy tale stories to their child but I really appreciate my family’s effort. Besides it helped me a lot in my subjects particularly in English and Grammar Lessons. When I enter High school, I started collecting different genres of books especially novels and series until on my Junior level I noticed that my bedroom became too occupated with books. Way back then, the anime OTAKU was my favorite book. Maybe because it’s a teenager thing. LOL. XD OTAKU is all about the latest trends on the anime world.

How large is your current collection?

I have at least 300 books in my bedroom. Some are self-bought while some are gifts from my family and friends.

Do you have any favorites among your collection?

Yes! My favorite book is “The Naked Soul” by Tim Alan Gardner. It’s actually a religious book about survival, coping loneliness and God’s amazing words. I like this book because I can relate to it that’s why every time I read this it just feels so good. This book help my body and soul feel better.

Way back then, I used to be a loner. Growing up seems to be a hard time for me especially that I need to be an independent woman. My parents both work at far away distance while my siblings have their own lives. Being the youngest, I used to be left alone in our house and the only companion I have are books that’s why books are very close to my heart.

Are there many clubs related with your collection? Where can you find people with similar interests?

Yes but most of them are just small groups. On the other hand, I am currently enjoying a book site called Goodreads.com. It include sets of exciting and cool books, articles and even magazines. If you are a social media geek who loves reading you should try it for yourself but I still prefer a book on hand! 🙂

How do you take care of your collection?

I clean my bookshelves every two weeks. Also, I make sure to rearrange it every time I read a certain book for an easier search.

What is your biggest regret when it comes to collecting?

Well, I think my biggest regret would be excessive buying to the point that there’s nothing left on my wallet and since I’ve learned my lessons. Today, I am saving some money for my next book shopping!

Where would you advise people to start in, if they want to collect the same?

Start at small stores with low prices like Book Sale. This would give you a hint what genres of books you would be enjoying to read with. Then at the right time, you can start buying new books on a reasonable price. Do not just buy a new or expensive book at bookstore, always consider it’s content and the lesson you can attain from it. Be a responsible book collector, budget your money and have a self-control. Be passionate in reading, enjoy the adventures of books and travel in different places through books! ^_^
