Have you ever woken up one morning thinking how you can make a difference in your city, your country, or even the whole world? If you’ve ever wanted to use your time and energy to promote relevant social issues, you and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Lucena might have something in common.
JCI Lucena
JCI Lucena is one of the chartered chapters of the Philippine Jaycees — an extension of JCI Manila that was inaugurated in the year 1948.
A non-profit organization, the group currently has twelve chapters including ones from Manila, Cebu, Cabanatuan, San Pablo, Tacloban, Capiz, Cavite, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, Zamboanga, and Lucena City.
Composed of current members and alumni who are highly trained to become socially responsible citizens, the group encourage its young members to develop their communication and leadership skills in order to share and implement ideas that can resolve different problems in their respective communities like health, hunger, poverty, education, unemployment, and the conservation of natural resources.
Activities
An active group with members from different cities, provinces, states, and countries, JCI provides its members plenty of opportunities for social and personal growth by organizing activities like the following:
Area Conferences
Every year, JCI Members gather for area conferences to exchange ideas and give the group opportunities to address international issues as well as show their commitment to becoming socially responsible leaders.
World Congress
Every November, members all over the world come together to join the annual JCI World Congress. An open forum is held for all members who are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas about their countries’ issues. Members from more than 100 countries are given an opportunity to meet fellow members and learn new ways to create positive changes both on local, national, and international levels.
Others
Aside from the aforementioned events, JCI also hold leadership trainings, technical and personality development seminars, and induction and fellowship programs.
