HandsFreeMedia Productions, launched in 2007 by prominent Lucenahin and TV/Indie Film Director Mr. FelinoTañada, is a private production outfit behind such indie productions like “Hanggang Dito na Lamang at Maraming Salamat” and the much awaited film “Hermano Puli: Kasaysayan ng Isang Bayani,” which will start screening this coming June, 2015.
The said production group is now looking for talented Quezonians who are interested in joining a select group of artists from Quezon province who will undergo an intensive acting and TV Hosting workshop this summer for its forthcoming TV productions that will be broadcasted over a new, soon-to-open TV network based in Quezon.They are also in search for people with interest and skills in scriptwriting, directing, video editing, camera operation and other TV production related work.
During our brief interview with Direk FelinoTañada, we learned of his deep interest and passion for the media arts that has compelled him to seek bigger challenges and opportunities in the film and television industry. Here is what transpired in our interview:
What are your plans for this upcoming TV production?
HandsFree Media Productions is currently in the early stage of planning to establish a TV channel based here in Quezon, which will focus mainly on broadcasting locally produced shows.
How wide is the reach of your broadcast?
This TV network’s signal can reach as far as Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Marinduque, Mindoro, and many areas in the province of Quezon – practically the whole of Region IV-A (CALABARZON) and Region IV-B (MIMAROPA).
What type of shows or programs do you intend to televise in your forthcoming TV channel?
We are planning to create shows that will feature travel, lifestyle, food, health and wellness, Zumba dancing, beauty pageants, kiddie news, games, drama shows and basically anything that would pique the interests of our local viewers. Of course, these would require a lot of actors and TV hosts — that is why we are looking for talented and versatile artists who can take up any role in our shows. The possibilities are endless.
You mentioned that applicants will have to undergo an intensive acting and TV hosting workshop. Since it is a “workshop,” then there must be a payment/fee for that, isn’t there?
We haven’t actually come up with any forms of payment for the said workshop yet, neither have we discussed the specifics regarding money matters. Production cost, talent fees, and other forms of expenditures will be considered and deliberated upon in due time. All I can say for now is that we are in dire need of sponsors who are willing to finance and support HandsFree Media Productions in this new endeavor.
What type of qualities should an applicant possess to meet the standards of your production? What benefits can they acquire in this undertaking?
A strong character, versatility, natural or acquired skills in TV production related work, serious interest, determination, commitment, and a burning passion for the arts are the essential qualities that an applicant should possess. Although the slots are very limited, applicants who have past experience and those who reside in Lucena and nearby towns will be prioritized in the selection process.
This undertaking is a good training ground for young artists who want to hone their natural talents and possibly make this as a stepping stone to bigger opportunities in the world of entertainment.
